Fingerprint and Evidence

Fingerprints are considered the best and the most used tools for criminal evidence. When there is a crime the law always tries to refer to the fingerprints in order to know the truth and show evidence. Fingerprints can decisively discover the criminal from the victim. Fingerprints are considered tools to evidence because they are reliable and juries can rely on to know the truth.

Televison and the Public Sphere

Radio, newspapers, internet and television or those media show how public sphere can make connections and create discussions between people from different categories. Also those media tools show how people use those media to participate in the public sphere through discussion, idea sharing or debates.

Television can be considered as the most used mass media tool for public sphere. Television facilitate the public sphere since it allows discussions between people. This medium played a remarkable role for discussions and idea sharing because it created a public space for various kinds of conversations that may happen between people while watching different kind of issues (Political, social, debates…). We can see that many political, social... discussions are done while watching a political debate or a social issue. Television gives access to the audience to different information and news that may create discussion and idea sharing through which they can create judgments and views that will rise discussions and debates.

Anorexia verses Models

Those are examples of models who normally represent beauty in the media while they are sick. The photographer is trying to address a message and see how viewers will interpret them. Those are not models those are sick girls who try to adress to the young audience a wrong message which is beauty equals being very thin (anorexic). Those are oppositional images because they reflect a problem that many girls are sufering from because of their low self esteem. While looking a those images I felt disgusting and also I felt sad about those young girls who think that their beauty depends on being very thin which is on reality being sick. Those visuals play a real role on adressing a message to the spectator in order to convince them about the real truth of those models and the real problems they realy hide.

Realism

I was really attracted by this painting because it is so natural and realistic. This painting represents and describes a world in its natural image. This is “an art style of the mid 19th century, which fostered the ides that everyday people and events are worthy subjects for important art”. This painting represents realism which means how powerful an image is to represent and reflect the reality of the world by introducing real facts that are taken from our society to make it credible and realistic.

Mirror Stage

This image represents a child who is establishing his ego by watchig at a mirror. This stage makes the baby distanguish between himself and the other and draws his own identiy using external sources.

Panopticism

When we feel that we are watched or observed by somebody we always tend to act in a different way than usual. We always try to change our way of behaving or acting when we are being watched in order not to make the other awar of what we are really doing. Here the gaze is upon us because our freedom to gaze was removed. Faucault called it « Panopticism » which is « simply a metaphor for how society's institutions tend to observe us » Panopticism shows how the functioning of power affects the behavior of an individual.A good example is prisoners who are always watched and their freedom is removed from them because they never know when they exactly are watched so this make them careful in their way of acting. Another example of panopticism is the cameras that are put in markets. When were are shopping on a store we find cameras on every corner and this is to make us know that we are being watched. Therefor we keep careful not to do an illegal action because we will be catched by the camera. So if someone wants to still. Seeing those cameras will discourage him and will not make him risk. Those examples make the theory of faucualt « Panopticism » works in diferent domains that lead to security and safety.

Voyeurism

Looking at this image makes us remember lot of things, we are all human beings and we are curious to know about people’s private life even if it does not concern us at all. Sometimes we love to look and gaze a person’s life with desire and admiration to know what’s going on their life and what their problems are or gaze to see a person in a private situation and so on without being noticed about this curiosity that may annoy the peoples we are observing. *

This image is a representation of ones of the tools we use to gaze someone and it is specially a tool of Voyeurism which means to the pleasure to look without being seen. Besides, voyeurisms is when a person observes for example a couples engaged in sexual acts or are with their underwear or dressed in an attractive way that may attract the viewer attention and makes him/her concentrated to look in a silent way without letting the other pay attention. I find this image very representative for voyeurism because a person can gaze a situation without being seen or noticed espacity sexual or private situations.

Are signs Universal?

http://www.texastrophies.com/prodimg/Signs.jpg

http://www.dreamstime.com/silence-please-image4357235

Lets have a look to the first image at the top…are those signs universal? yes they are…in every country we can see the use of those signs which means they are universal because they are understood by everybody … When a person will look at at one of those signs she/he will understand its meaning because whenever we go we can find them addressing the same message…signs have a universal purpose which is to communicate a meaning and these can be done through images like the first one and also signs can be done by gestures. Let’s take the second picture , this girl is using a gesture that means keep quit or silence and this sign is universal and can be understood by everybody. SHHHH!!! Is also a sign that includes sound and it has the meaning of keep silent and this is a universal one too because when you say to someone shhhh!!! Means that this person is disturbing and he/she needs to keep quit. Signs can be expressed in different ways that have the goal to communicate a meaning or an inforamtion. Most of signs are universal like those the once I talked about and many other ones.

Attention Economy

What about this picture?? I think you got the message isn’t it??
AT TV, magazines, newspapers, Internet. All this media is full of advertising that share the same goal which is attract customers to consume products and services, but do they all achieve this goal?? Of course not!! Because, advertising itself is a study and an art that economist use in a smart way to attract peoples attention.
Let’s take the example of this picture…..how do you find it in terms of the way it was presented?? I think you have already seen it since it is presented everywhere...
I found this advertisement so powerful in its presentation, once I saw it attracted my attention. Its an active advertising, the girl is doing more than one activity at once she is dancing and listening to music which is smart to make the consumer attracted and interested by the product. Moreover, if you paid attention you can see that this ads. is presented everywhere in an attractive way, you can find it in walls, cars, billboards…even if you are not interested in the ads you will find yourself surrounded by it which will attract you and make you curious and interested to know about it. Advertising now is using relevant and appropriate services that attract the consumers’ attention for a product and also to convert non consumers to consumers and this is by using attention economy. Attention economy is becoming a very powerful tool since it tries to provide a service using appropriate methods based on people’s interest and being indirect when offering a service.
We have studied in class Attention at/through… for me this picture is looking through since I have got its message from the first look and I know what is behind this ads… what about you guys??? Is it Attention At/Through??

Optical Illusion

The organizational mechanisms of vision are best demonstrated by illusions. Illusions illustrate that perception is a creative construction that the brain makes in interpreting visual data ....Learning does not prevent us from being taken in by these illusions.
- Eric Kandel-

Do you see what I see??

When observing the images in class, each one of us was seeing and perceiving those images in a different way. This means we perceive the world differently not in the way and the shape it really is; our perception and way of seeing the world depends on people’s state and mood. The information that we get is seen by the eye than transformed by the brain to give a perception.

Let’s take the picture I posted and see how differently wee see it. For me when I first saw this picture I only could see the duck face and nothing else. When I saw this picture to another friend the first thing that attracted her attention was the rabbit face. She could not see the duck face it was difficult for her to see it. For me I could see the rabbit face but this was after my friend helped me to see it. So what about you guys which face do you see??? both or only one?? I can guess that each one will have a different perception to this image when he/she first saw it.

The eye is a tool of connection between reality and optical illusion.
