When observing the images in class, each one of us was seeing and perceiving those images in a different way. This means we perceive the world differently not in the way and the shape it really is; our perception and way of seeing the world depends on people’s state and mood. The information that we get is seen by the eye than transformed by the brain to give a perception.
Let’s take the picture I posted and see how differently wee see it. For me when I first saw this picture I only could see the duck face and nothing else. When I saw this picture to another friend the first thing that attracted her attention was the rabbit face. She could not see the duck face it was difficult for her to see it. For me I could see the rabbit face but this was after my friend helped me to see it. So what about you guys which face do you see??? both or only one?? I can guess that each one will have a different perception to this image when he/she first saw it.
The eye is a tool of connection between reality and optical illusion.

Illusions are very interesting indeed. I believe that knowledge influences a lot our perceptions. When looking at your image, one can either see a duck or a rabbit, yet if one does not know both it will be impossible for him/her to perceive something meaningful. These pictures have been transformed in optical illusions for us to give the meaning that matches its knowledge or experience.
This discussion gets right to the heart of 'how' and 'why' it is that we see. Only ONE interpretation at a time is available to our perception. Does everything, then, hinge on what we expect to see? dm
Good choice of pictures :) I think this example goes well with the one of the table. The picture a person has of things differs depending on knowledge and personality. Truth is not always obvious ^^
Seeing more than one creature in this image and the different perceptions that each one of us would make of your image Amal would make us think that images would require more attention and focus in order to see what is really represented in there. Being familiar with both creatures would make it easier for us to identify whats really meant by the image but if we have never seen those creatures then as much as we look at the image we will never perceive its reality.
On the other hand, people who would come up with different illusions other than the duck or the rabbit would still be true to them because thats the was they see it depending on what they know and believe.
I think amal that you did a good choice of your picture because it illustrates the idea that everyone see the picture depending on his or her knowledge and believe. There are some people who will see that the picture is neither rabbit nor duck but another thing, and this doesn’t mean that they are wrong or they don’t see well since everyone has his or her own vision to pictures.
same for me Amal, i saw only the face of the duke, i could not distunguish the one of the rabbit until now. really, illusions are very confusing.
